Colin has produced a series of pastel pencil starter packs aimed primarily at the beginner. They contain all the materials you need to complete a selected subject; pastel pencils, pastel paper, line drawing, transfer carbon, a reference picture and full instructions. There is also a video linked to these packs which may aid you further, called "Pastel Pencils for Beginners". This can be found at the video page.
